Strength / Resistance Training
Building muscle through strength and resistance training is crucial to the physical fitness regimens designed by Fitness Works. Not only is strength training necessary for proper skeletal and bone mass development, it increases the strength of the tendons and ligaments around the muscles. In addition, strength training can alleviate or improve common health problems such as high blood pressure, insulin sensitivity, and obesity.
Cardiovascular Fitness
All Fitness Works clients are encouraged to adopt a more active lifestyle. Cardiovascular fitness substantially reduces one's risk of developing cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, and colon cancer, can lower blood pressure and cholesterol, help prevent osteoporosis, and can reduce obesity, symptoms of depression and arthritis. If clients have little time for workouts on their own, cardiovascular exercise is incorporated into training sessions.
Nutrition / Dietary Health
Eating a nutritious, well-balanced diet improves the way the body functions and provides the energy needed to maintain an active lifestyle. Despite the claims of many popular diet plans, it is important to eat a healthy mix of protein, complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables, fats and vitamins. Fitness Works clients receive the support needed to making healthy eating a regular part of their lifestyles.
Education
Fitness Works provides its clients with selected articles to read each month. Taken from scholarly publications as well as popular magazines, these readings educate clients on the latest research and physiological benefits of healthy living.
